My soon to be ex husband was covered under my medical insurance at my job, which I paid from each paycheck… in the divorce, can I ask for him to pay me back for the medical insurance I have paid since married?
Doubtful. You guys we’re married do you want rent that you paid on his behalf back as well? What about food you purchased? Its all under the same umbrella. Your not entitled to get it back.
You can ask for anything in the divorce, but that doesn’t mean you are going to get it. If you do, expect to get asked to pay back anything he paid out for you.
No. Doesn’t work that way, that was a normal expense of being married. A judge might consider something like you paying their way through school or something, but insurance, not a chance.
Wow thats an excellent thought. Be sure that in the eyes of the court it looks like you took care of and paid for everything. Make sure it looks like he couldn’t have made it without you. Maybe the court will see that recognize that he is a pitiful human being incapable of caring for himself and reward him alimony.
Only if he can ask to be paid back for any of the bills he paid out of his pay.
I don’t think so. Then if he paid the cable bill or something he could ask to be reimbursed for half in the divorce!
Yes, but it is not etch in stone that you will get it back.

No, you two were married and shared responsibility. 50/50 that’s how it normally goes.
No. You were married. Things you bought you have to split, things you paid are just a loss. That’s how community property works.
The poor fellow.

Great idea. I paid for my ex’s insurance too, along with the mortgage, car payments, utility bills, groceries, everything.
Something tells me though it ain’t going to happen.
no things you paid while married you can;t be reimbursed for . you;re getting rid of him isnt that enough??
