I’ve been looking into nursing programs in my area, and they all say something about going through a medical exam before being accepted in to the program. What kind of exam is it? It also says that they make sure you are free of any communicable diseases, which makes sense, but seems vague. What exactly do they test for?

Be able to walk/stand for at least 8 hours, carry 20 lbs for 50 feet, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, kneel, stoop, a few other movements.
The doctor just has to agree that you are mentally and physically able to perform basic nursing duties.
You have to take an exam called the TEAS test. It is an exam with math, science, english, and reading on it. You have to take it to have your application reviewed. Im going to take it soon too.
The exams I did on nursing students had a check list the school wanted and all are a bit different. Basically it was a head to toe physical exam (about a 20 minute one) with emphasis on the musculo-skeletal system, vision, a TB test, measles, mumps, rubella titers, an in depth health questionnaire that we went over with a good medical history on the review of systems, and things like that.
