To clarify Yay It's a Boy's answer just a bit, a spontanious abortion is specifically a pregnancy that ends on its own in the first trimester, while a miscarriage is one that ends in the second. A still birth is when it goes into the third trimester.

I've experienced 4 spontanious abortions and one miscarriage (by that definition). With the first of those spontanious abortions I saw, just a few days before I lost the baby, the heart beating in the ultrasound - at barely 6 weeks. There is no way anyone will ever convince me that induced abortions do not take life. Abortion DOES stop a beating heart. It causes death.

It also causes an insensitivity to those of us who lose longed-for babies early in a pregnancy. I've been told by well-meaning friends, "It wasn't as though you lost a baby." I come back with, "Of course it was a baby! It certainly wasn't a canteloupe!" I also had a nurse who attended me after one of those losses tell me that I "should be greatful" because "it could have been retarded" and I "certainly wouldn't want THAT!" I am now the happy adoptive mother of a child who turned out to have a form of autism. I wouldn't trade her for anything!

Having said that I will also say I am pro-choice. I just happen to believe that the choice should ONLY be made before conception and not after. If a woman truly does not want a child, then she needs to choose self control. It may be a more difficult choice, and not as exciting, but it's better than murder. (The only exceptions are to save the life of the mother or in some cases of **** or ******.)

(You did ask for my feelings on the subject.)

Well, there's an abortion done in a clinic for someone who doesn't want their baby...and there's spontaneous abortion which is also referred to as a miscarriage.

Abortion: In medicine, an abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why that pregnancy was lost.

A spontaneous abortion is the same as a miscarriage. The miscarriage of 3 or more consecutive pregnancies is termed habitual abortion
