I have a paper that I need to write for a Medical Terminology class. I need to describe the importance of medical terminology as well as its relationship positive and negative, between Health care provider and patient.

As with ANY specialized terminology,
the main purpose is to convey meaning
more quickly and accurately.
For example, if each ligament in the knee has a
specific name, you don’t have to say
“the connector thingie that’s sort of in
the back towards the right, behind the
other kind of connector thingie that is
attached to the bone that goes down the leg
on the inside”, or whatever. (Obviously I
know nothing about knee ligaments, but you
get the idea.)
Since the patient is not usually part of the
“in-crowd” who know all the “cool lingo”,
then there has to be a translation into layman’s
terms, with the possibility of misunderstanding.
To the extent patients can learn proper medical
terminology, doctor-patient communication can improve.
Now all you have to do is extend this idea
to the required length of your paper.
