I am interested in pursuing a career in the medical field, however I don’t want to deal with blood, guts and gore. What is the least invasive and/or patient contact career choice for me in the medical field?
Medical lab techs work in hospitals but have no patient contact. If you like science and solving problems, it could be a choice for you. The diagnoses that doctors make rely greatly on the tests that MLTs carry out.
Dispatchers get paid really well for their education level and never contact patients, except maybe on the phone. You really help people though because you guide them through the first moments of an emergency. To get into dispatch, it’s often helpful to get your EMT-B.
Medical secretaries, medical researchers, prosthetists… etc etc there’s plenty of jobs in the medical field that are “behind the scenes”
