It depends on what the waiting period is. With most companies they have a probation period of 90 days before you are eligable for insurance and most of the insurances, require a waiting period of a year before they will start to pay for any preexisting conditions. When you get a job, ask to see the insurance manuel to see if that restriction is in their manuel. Most insurances are that way now but not all.
If the lapse is less than 63 days, yes. If not, they can exclude preexisting conditions for the waiting period, usually about 18 months.
mbrcatz is right. Don’t drop your COBRA until you purchase a short-term medical plan from Assurant or UnitedHealthcare’s GoldenRule insurance company. They will ask you 3 questions to issue you a policy that will last one to six months, and it’s extremely affordable. Try ehealthinsurance.com.
Pick up a plan like this and then open up a health savings account. Insurance companies are a rip off
make sure you are covered before u drop your existing plan.
the risk is if u leave yr job, your health condition may not allow u to pick up another insurance in the future
