It’s not mandatory, but I wouldn’t want to get sick or hurt and NOT have medical insurance.
That’s the problem with living in the US,a huge percentage of people either can’t afford health insurance or the company they work for doesn’t offer it or they have a pre-existing condition that voids them of getting insurance.
If it was mandatory, then a hell of a lot of people would be in legal trouble.
It’s a very good idea to get health insurance, but the sad thing is that most people can’t afford it, or think that nothing will ever happen to them so they don’t need it.
The Democratic candidates are talking about making it mandatory but also making it much more affordable, or even Socializing it, which basically means that the government would pay for your health care.
If it was socialized, then I believe that even those without Social Security numbers could have access to health care, if only because it would be free for everybody.
I went without medical insurance for almost 10 yrs. Just don’t get hurt or really sick! If you don’t have an SSN – you might want to take steps to get one.
Everybody legally in this country should have a SS number and you don’t need one to buy insurance. If a guest is in our country they may need to get some kind of travel insurance or maybe their country has insurance to cover them.
Not at this point ,no. BUT should Hillary or Osama, ooppss, I meant Obama, get into office it WILL become mandatory. HHmm, that sounds awfully like a socialist agenda. Wow, capitalist America becoming Socialist.
Effective in 2007, it is absolutely mandatory in Massachusetts. However, various programs are available for families with low and mid level incomes.
If you do not have a SS#, you are probably illegal and should not be able to benefit from any of the federal/state assistance programs. However, apparently that does not matter….
