California sent my husband a letter telling him to provide medical insurance on his daughter. She has been a recipient of SSDI since she was 18. We are not understanding the request. Is it an error?
usuallt the state pays all the medical insureance on the child.
I would look deeper into it before he goes and puts her on…he will pay an arm and a leg for the insurance check with ssdi 2
I don’t think he is able to cover her through any insurance. Every insurance company I have dealt with only covers to age 21 and that’s only if the child is in college full time.
Your husband should contact the agency and tell them that she is disabled and an adult -he should not have to provide for her health insurance and she qualifies for medicaid if she is disabled so it should not be an issue. He simply has to deny paying for her.I think they need that in writing to qualify her.Maybe Calif Law is different but it sounds illogical/illegal to me.
Call Soc. Sec. and ask them why they sent the letter.
Time to speak to an attorney. The state’s tired of paying.
